Gentoo og hvad så?

Lecture by Alexander Færøy at LinuxForum in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 3, 2007.

In this lecture, we walked over what makes the Gentoo Linux distribution special. We primarily focused on the concept of the “meta-distribution” and how one can use Gentoo Linux to build custom distributions for particular use-cases.

We introduced the tool used internally within the Gentoo project’s release engineering team to build stage tarballs and Live CD ISO’s named Catalyst.

We shortly went over the two alternative package managers for Gentoo of that time: Paludis and pkgcore.

Finally, we ended up walking over some of the community-related projects.
